As part of the MIDIS PARTAGE lecture series, you are cordially invited by the Product Design, Jewellery and Accessories department to attend the lecture ‘Me and my jewellery, ceramics and some other things.’ by Daniel Kruger, to be held on Thursday 15 May 2025 from 12.00am to 13.00pm.

Daniel Kruger
Born in South Africa and based in Munich, Daniel Kruger has been a jewellery artist since 1972. Between 1984 and 2005, he also worked with ceramics, primarily during residencies at the renowned EKWC (European Ceramic Workcentre) in ’s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands.

Drawing on a broad range of techniques and expertise, Kruger develops an eclectic practice where historical references intertwine with popular culture, painting with knitting, Africa with Europe, and necklaces with soup tureens. The guiding thread of his career, spanning more than forty years, is his enthusiastic approach to ornamentation and adornment, both in jewellery and ceramics.

His jewellery pieces are true technical feats, where gold, silk, pearls, stones, and pigments come to life in contact with the body. As for his ceramics, they stand tall like trophies, celebrating beauty, youth, and exuberance. In 2014 and 2015, major museums in Leipzig, Pforzheim, Hanau, and ’s-Hertogenbosch dedicated significant retrospective exhibitions to his work.
