As part of the MIDIS ARCHI lecture series, you are cordially invited by the Interior Architecture Department of HEAD to attend the lectures by Alix Arto, which will take place on Monday 24th november 2025 from 12:30pm to 1:15pm.
Alix Arto is a multidisciplinary designer established between Vevey, Switzerland and Marseille, France. In addition to her collaboration with international manufacturers, galleries and museums, she is developing sustainable and innovative projects through residencies and hands-on material investigations. Challenging the constraints of materials and production processes, collaborating closely with artisans and industries, finding particularities in their savoir-faire and translate them into a collaborative project is central in her approach.
Herding wool is a project exploring the potential of wool felting co-created by Alix Arto, Emma Casella & Yihan Zhang. In 2025, it has been exhibited Freitag Shanghai, Milano Design Week, Zurich design week, Tangible Festival in Marseille and has won a Swiss Design Award.
The Wool Library, by Alix Arto, Emma Casella and Nina Conrad in collaboration with Fibershed DACH and Alptextyles, documents and showcases the fibre properties of Alpine sheep breeds. It combines scientific analysis with physical textile samples to transparent, practical information for material sourcing. In 2025, it has been presented in Milano Unica, Lyon Textile Lab, Nova Gorica in Slovenia and Zurich Design Week.
