The 100 Best Posters Germany Austria Switzerland competition is organised annually by 100 Beste Plakate e. V. and aims to publicise special achievements in poster design from the three countries in the form of a yearbook and several exhibitions. Posters of all genres and printing techniques that were designed, printed and published in the period of the respective year can be submitted.The competition for the 100 best posters, which has been held 20 times so far on an international scale, is considered an important institution of current poster design. Numerous graphic designers, students of graphic design at art colleges and universities of applied sciences, agencies, offices as well as clients and printers take part every year.In the current competition year, i.e. 2020, 600 entrants submitted a total of 1,973 posters (868 individual posters, 321 series).

The jury then made a preliminary selection. At the final jury meeting, which was also conducted online due to pandemic restrictions, 743 posters (298 individual posters and 127 series) were submitted by 275 entrants.
According to country, the 100 award-winning posters and poster series were divided into 43 x Germany, 50 x Switzerland and 7 x Austria - 76 commissioned works, 7 own commissions and 17 student project commissions.
In accordance with the competition announcement, the selection represents a broad stylistic palette of poster design in the German-speaking countries and shows the work of professional designers and students on an equal footing.
