Abigaël Mackenzie’s Second Skin project is the winner of the USM Design Grant 2021, while Mélina Laville has received an honourable mention.

BOURSES DELIÉES DESIGN 2021
Exhibition of the projects of the recipients of the 2019 and 2020 grants from the Fonds cantonal d’art contemporain for designers who have graduated from HEAD. The winning designers are exhibited every two years as part of the Design Days. PLAYING IN THE CITY OF TOMORROW
Students of the MA in Media Design have imagined the city of tomorrow through the creation of virtual reality games, exploring new social interactions, forms of relationship with nature and alternative modes of transport at neighbourhood level. Use your eyes to activate these playful experiences and interact with new neighbourhoods. The projects are the result of a workshop led by Marion Bareil and Pierre Rossel. Featuring Urudagal by Paul Bellon-Serre, Coral’s Choral by Tiki Bordin, Dessine-moi un jardin by Lison Christe and Lightwell by Chloé Michel.

SMART OBJECTS
Johan Pardo and Gabriel Abergel, 2021 graduates of the MA in Media Design, present two original experiences that showcase new forms of interaction linked to digital design. Ikaro is an instrument that transforms light into sound frequencies. Domestic Object Lab is a research-creation laboratory that questions how artificial intelligence, through the object, reveals or alters the personality of its owner.

LISTENING SCULPTURE
Listening Sculpture
is a public space installation commissioned by the United Nations. It represents the international institution as a body that listens to human beings. It consists of a parabolic mirror that amplifies the oral messages that people around the world address to the UN. The Interior Architecture Department designed and created this sculpture, which will soon be installed in the galleries of the UN Secretariat building in New York. It consists of 193 pieces, corresponding to the number of UN member states. The wooden planks that are used are leftovers from the school’s wood workshop. The work will premiere in front of the Sicli Pavilion during the Design Days from 25 to 28 November before leaving for New York.

HEAD STORE – Soft Opening
HEAD is launching its HEAD STORE as part of the Design Days 2021 during a Soft Opening evening on Tuesday 23 November, from 5 to 7 pm.
In the school’s historic building, located at 15 Bd James-Fazy, the HEAD shop will offer for sale works of art, textiles, ceramics, jewellery and tableware made by its students and young graduates. An online shop will complement the HEAD shop at the beginning of 2022.
