MIDIS ARCHIS : Central, Brussels et Office S&M, London

Monday 7 December 2020

The Department of Interior Architecture proposes a new edition of its conference cycle MIDIS ARCHI.
The guests of this edition are Radim Louda from Central, Brussels and Catrina Stewart and Hugh McEwen Office S&M, London.

CENTRAL
Based in Brussels, CENTRAL is an architecture and urban research office that was founded in 2015. After respective experiences acquired in various offices in Belgium, Ljubljana and Paris, Radim Louda, Paul Mouchet and Valentin Piret set up a common practice that explores the faint boundaries between architecture and urban planning and their embeddedness in reality. This young practice has distinguished itself through several award-winning projects that demonstrate its interest in a systemic and multiscalar approach to architecture, the city and the territory.

OFFICE S&M
Office S&M is a London-based architecture practice which delivers buildings that are an experience. Established by Catrina Stewart and Hugh McEwen, the practice works on a variety of new build multi unit housing, high street regeneration, and public realm projects. We go on design journeys with each of our clients to deliver buildings beyond their imagination. Joyful design is embedded in our DNA, and we see colour as a building material, just as much as bricks and mortar. We are known for our experimental approach, and each of our buildings tells a story. These buildings celebrate the colour, materiality, and narratives of the everyday use of these new spaces. The practice's work has been recognized by being named Young Architect of the Year by BD in 2020, a Rising Star by RIBA Journal in 2019, and a Don’t Move, Improve! winner by the NLA in 2018.
