“Swiss Accessory and Watch Design by HEAD – Genève” presents over 100 pieces of recent outstanding work by HEAD – Genève students and graduates, including watches, jewellery, eyewear and leatherware designs. While ensuring product quality with technical and crafting precision, the young designers draw inspiration from day-to-day materials like aluminium, with their vision in contemporary arts and knowledge of cutting-edge fashion trends, forging new directions for the future of design. Highlight items include jewellery inspired by Le Corbusier’s “Modulor” unit of measurement, an anthropometric scale of proportions based on the height of a man with his arm raised; eyewear that marries tradition with a contemporary twist; sustainable design in jewellery.
The exhibits are complemented by a scenography by Juliette Roduit, a HEAD alumna who pays tribute to Hong Kong’s maritime history and showcases the exhibits as treasures which have travelled across the ocean from the mountains of Switzerland to the ocean-port of Hong Kong, adding a vibrant touch.
+A curated Master Lecture will be offered on September 8 by HEAD – Genève Director Jean-Pierre Greff and Nicolas Mertenat, professor in charge of Chair in Watch design. The lecture is open to practitioners in the design, watch and jewellery industries as well as the public, whereby the finest Swiss watch and jewellery design and craftsmanship, as well as the latest style trends, will be introduced.
