The ICRC, in collaboration with the HEAD - Geneva, Departement Cinéma / cinéma du réel, presents the films of students realised durinng the editing workshop.
Under the direction of Canadian filmmaker Mike Hoolboom, the students of the 1st year of the Cinema / Cinema du Réel Department worked with the film archives of the International Committee of the Red Cross, preserved thanks to the support of Memoriav.
They carried out a genuine immersive exploration of this rich and abundant collection of images from all over the world, illustrating the great diversity of past and present activities and operations of this Geneva institution. The workshop was guided by an essential question, which also goes through the work of the filmmaker on the other side of the Atlantic: " How can we look, receive and make these images of distant scenes in time and space? ".
These films reveal in a powerful and singular way, the perception of young filmmakers to be, who have made these their documents of humanitarian stories.
