Virtual Worlds
How can VR, data capture and AI be paired for the creation of virtual worlds enacting new forms of storytelling and imagery?
During these two weeks, students freely started from text outputs created during the previous workshop on Queering AI text generation to explore techniques of modelling, animation and texturing in 3D. Using various interactive devices ranging from drawing tablets to iPads and Oculus VR Headsets, they then learned how traditional techniques of drawing and sculpting can be transposed into the digital and 3D space for the production of virtual worlds and simulations. Along these explorations, they developed new and innovative ways to create hybrid processes where text and 3D assets communicate and where designers work in partnership with AI to create immersive graphical works. Emerging from this workshop, they asked themselves: How can VR, data capture and AI be paired for the creation of virtual worlds enacting new forms of storytelling and imagery?
