The TypoLab of the Visual Communication department at HEAD – Genève invites you to the lecture: Final Drawing by Chi Long, independent graphic designer and typographer.
Chi-Long Trieu, born in 1988, is an independent graphic designer and typographer. He works within his own studio, Office for Typography, founded in 2016 and based between Lausanne and Osaka.
Academically, after obtaining a bachelor’s degree in visual communication in 2013 from the École cantonale d’art de Lausanne (ECAL), Chi-Long Trieu has been collaborating and teaching since 2014 as a lecturer. He is involved in the master's programmes in type design and luxury management, as well as in the bachelor’s sections in visual communication and industrial design.
Alongside his independent practice, he is the author of Basel, a successful typeface initiated in 2013 and now distributed by the Optimo foundry. He also collaborates with the Zak Group studio, where he acts as the typographic director.
Chi-Long Trieu regularly gives workshops and lectures in Switzerland and abroad. His work has been awarded several distinctions, including the Bourses de la Ville de Fribourg (2014), a nomination for the Swiss Design Awards (2017), Les Plus Beaux Livres Suisses (2018), the German Design Awards (2020), the international poster design competition INTL, the Red Dot Design Awards, 100 Beste Plakate (2024), and the Tokyo TDC (2025).
