Les Maps de Thomas Hirschhorn: commander l'état d'urgence
Since 2003, Thomas Hirschhorn has produced large drawings of about three by four by himself, or with the philosopher Marcus Steinweg, which he calls "Maps", in which he interacts with colored images, fragments of texts and his own comments. Each plan has a fortnight to date - is characterized by its own dynamics, the elements being linked together by colored lines or arrows indicating a direction, correspondence or meaning.
A vast archive arranged in rhizomes, the plan affirms an organizational mode, while giving to see an exuberant chaos and chaos. Based on four years of research and exchange with the artist, this intervention proposes to focus on a less visible and yet fundamental aspect of Hirschhorn's work. It will be a question of examining the way in which maps are articulated to precarious monuments and to what extent these maps are an "other space", indispensable for action in public space, or as a predisposition to positioning of the artist.
