When she left the room, the spirits went with her

The collection is a manifesto for the joy of dressing, for clothes manifesting états d’âmes (states of mind) and for defiantly taking pride in appearances.

The collection draws inspiration from my family’s tradition of festive dress (also known as “uniform” in the Democratic Republic of the Congo) and all the generous ostentatiousness it implies. It takes clues from Blaxploitation movies from the 70’s where clothes allow multifaceted characters to fully embody their roles: the boss lady, the seductive detective... It also takes clues from Western films, where clothing sets the scenes:  dust coats flapping in the wind, poetically noisy holsters unbuckled.

Discover the video of the collection on défilé-head.ch.
