Cry on Cue is part of a series of exhibitions whose group format is understood as a learning situation. The artists, who are studying in the Representation option at Geneva's Haute école d'art et de design, work mainly in their studios, with an emphasis on painting. Exhibiting together enables them to broaden their own practice towards more mutually permeable forms of artistic production. In the shift of perspective between the singular and the plural, the perception between the work and the practice that produces it shifts. The making of an exhibition becomes a collective negotiation of relationships between objects, people, places and ideas.

The shared practice of the exhibition allows for a divergent, open-ended thought process that alternates between alternative positions, and is not simply oriented towards a single, irrevocable goal. You could say that the theme of the exhibition is (amateur) theater. This set-up has enabled the artists to develop their own production of images and works in constant dialogue with each other, with the theme, the context and the spatial conditions. If Cry on Cue is a kind of stage for painting, it seems logical that visitors should enter from the rear.Cry on Cue is part of a series of exhibitions in which the group format is understood as a learning element.
