Plant Ecology Applied to Development and Conservation group - EVA

Ecological engineering, including plant engineering, is targeted on themes such as the preparation of diagnostic tools for flora and vegetation, biology and ecology applied to conservation, the management of natural environments and the ecological restoration of environments. These themes are developed in order to resolve ecological or technical problems or to improve the living environment.

Oriented towards the practical, the activities are based in particular on biology and applied plant ecology, often in combination with skills from the engineering and agronomy world. The following specific aspects concerning plant ecology applied to development and conservation have been particularly developed (often in relation with the other research groups of the inTNP):

  • Revitalisation of watercourses
  • Restoration of certain functionalities of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems
  • Complete reconstitution of degraded terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems
  • Greening techniques overall
  • Protection against various forms of erosion, using plant techniques
  • Differentiated management of agricultural and forest environments and green urban spaces
  • Management of natural or semi-natural environments with the aim of conservation

The activities and developments are primarily to serve administrations, consultancy firms, managers, study centres and practitioners, namely the organisations which work directly in the field on conservation and development.
