The objective of the project is to investigate whether it is possible to design a wind tunnel allowing a variety of test configurations under one roof, such as:
Traditional wind tunnels are single-task and their capabilities are limited. The wind blows in only one direction (mostly horizontal, sometimes vertical) with a uniform speed and a fixed turbulence level.
Our new digital/pixelated wind technology (windshaper) allows winds to be generated in arbitrary and variable directions, with velocity gradients, vortices, gusts, and a variable and controlled turbulence level. In particular, the actual spectral content of the real wind can be reproduced for tests in authentic conditions.
