Buildings are a major source of CO2 emissions in Switzerland. Moreover, the existing building stock will continue to account for the largest share of sectoral energy demand for decades to come. However, their efficient large-scale renovation poses many interrelated and transdisciplinary problems.
The RENOWAVE project, supported by the Innosuisse Flagship Initiative, addresses building retrofitting in a co-construction process involving researchers from more than 15 research institutes and over 40 field partners throughout Switzerland.
The Energy, Climate, Environment, Architecture group (ECEA) is more particularly involved in two sub-projects which aim to provide local authorities with tools to implement proactive approaches to encourage private owners to launch ambitious renovation projects and to propose coaching systems to accompany owners and inhabitants throughout the project and the renovation work.
