The specific objective is to measure strain-induced surface potential variations in carbon nanotubes and to rewrite the constitutive equations of materials for the electro-nanomechanics of carbon nanotubes (and carbon surfaces in general) in terms of local surface charge.
The success of this project will enable the detection of flows at the microscale, such as stereocilia in the inner ear, which allow the detection of weak flows associated with sound waves hitting the eardrum.
