Validation of a modular concrete construction concept

This study validates a new modular concrete construction system developed by Cubik Home and Francioli. The research combines laboratory tests, full-scale trials and numerical simulations. The study examines several aspects:

• The properties of high-performance fibre-reinforced concrete.
• Its drying behaviour.
• Its resistance to fire (no spalling and limited spalling).
• Its behaviour after cracking, which is particularly important for thin structures.

Numerical models were developed to simulate the behaviour of this fibre-reinforced concrete. These models were then validated by tests on various structural elements (slabs and thin ribbed walls). Connections between elements were tested in tension and shear.
