Monitoring of bryophyte diversity in Switzerland.
Biodiversity monitoring in Switzerland has been monitoring the long-term development of the diversity of a selection of plant and animal species since 2001. It focuses on the inventory of frequent and widespread species, thus showing the observed changes in the normal landscape. Bryophytes are part of one of the target groups and are found on the basis of a systematic sampling network across Switzerland. They are then identified in the laboratory by the specialists. MBD data is an essential basis for nature protection policy.
