The objective of this project is to revalue excavated soil by developing a soil concrete formulation in order to obtain a material that is easy to use and achieves sufficient compressive strength. The idea is to propose a sustainable, economically viable way of recovering this «waste» by considering it as a valuable resource, reused directly on the source site or nearby.
In contrary to conventional concrete, this «new» construction system for load-bearing elements based on «earth concrete» contains much less cement and is made up of more than 70% of locally recycled earthen excavated material. It can be used in the conventional way, i.e. by pouring into formworks, which makes this product a potential alternative that is both environmentally and economically efficient.
