MENU Robotics and Automation

Areas of expertise

The group forms an integral part of the inSTI Institute. It sees itself as a partner of choice in matters of research and development for the local and regional industrial fabric and for communities.

The aR&D activities are commercially developed by transfers of technologies towards the economy through the intermediary of projects of the innoSuisse or European types, financed by HES-SO in the form of mandates or services, as well as by scientific publications and participation in conferences.

The group collaborates with the Geneva Creativity Center (GCC), with which it can initiate steps to examine feasibility before validating a concept for start-ups or SMEs of the canton.

Areas of expertise

  • Mechanical design and implementation of original sequences of operations for motorised articulated mechanisms according to the client's specifications (multi-axis/parallel/serial/hybrid mechanisms with pneumatic, hydraulic or electric motors)
  • Customised design of actuators for robotics with very high added value (Industry 4.0)
  • Instrumentation of the sequence of operations and dynamic instrumentation of robots (position/speed/force sensors)
  • Implementation of control cabinets for robots
  • Summary and implementation of sophisticated control algorithms for the synchronisation of axes (models of sequences of operations and dynamic models, trajectory generators, mechanical impedance control)
  • Design of gripping devices, tools and positioning devices customised according to the client's specifications
  • Programming of conventional robotised cells (vision, pick and place, smoothing with force control, etc.)
  • Programming of robotised collaborative cells (YUMI, Kuka iiwa)
  • Studies of robotised installations by simulation
  • Safety in robotic installations
