Our project investigates the current transnationalization of ageing as an expression of new diversities and related transformations of social life. It aims at answering the following specific research questions:

Q1. What emerging transnational mobility patterns do retirees display and what drives them? How do migration policies, social security bilateral agreements, and care regimes, – along with familial (transnational family networks and family lifecycle) and individual factors (life-course events, mobility trajectories, individual resources, and care needs) – influence these patterns?

Q2. What kind of transnational lifestyles do retirees develop and what social dynamics do post-retirement mobilities generate? How are existing ties maintained and how do intergenerational relationships and solidarities deploy across borders? Which new ties are developed in places of residence? What residential and care arrangements are developed to overcome socioeconomic and health issues?
