The Haute école de musique de Genève (HEM) focuses on being firmly rooted in the local area, by seeking to forge close ties with the general public, music schools, public and private schools, universities, the other schools in HES-SO Genève and the cultural actors in the region.

Considering music to be an essential asset for the wider public, the HEM encourages its students to go and meet the public as part of an integrative and participatory approach. For the HEM, it is important that as many people as possible can have access to culture. It is for that reason that virtually all of the events it lays on for the general public are free and open to absolutely everyone.

By working on ever more projects with associations and local artists, the HEM is becoming ever more firmly rooted in the Geneva region, with the desire to reach out to all audiences. It is undertaking, with strength and conviction, to support and promote the highlighting of talented young people from the conservatoires and music schools, and is investing in the training of pupils from the intensive and pre-professional courses, coordinating the pre-college course at the Geneva level, in particular.
