La HEdS-Genève dispose d'un centre de compétences spécialisé en soins des plaies et cicatrisation appelé le SOWC (Skin-Ostomy-Wound Care Research & Implementation Group).

The Skin Ostomy and Wound Care (SOWC) Competence Center of the School of Health Sciences, HES-SO is the leading competence center in the field of tissue viability, ostomy and wound care including department of nursing, physical therapy, midwifery, and nutrition and dietetics. The SOWC competence center embraces a vision of person-centered, multidisciplinary and evidence-based care.

The aim of the SOWC competence center is to generate and transfer evidence to enhance patient and family outcomes as well as the clinical decision-making process for healthcare professionals.

  • dentify priority research areas and formulate relevant research questions that can have a genuine impact on clinical practice in the care of individuals living with wounds, ostomies, and/or continence disorders;
  • Design, conduct, analyze, and publish high-quality research on people's experiences, as well as on the effectiveness (goal attainment) and efficiency (optimization and quality) of healthcare interventions in our areas of expertise;
  • Create and deliver advanced training programs and curricula on these specific aspects of care;
  • Develop strategies to disseminate and implement specific evidence-based care in health science education;
  • Develop strategies to disseminate and implement specific evidence-based care in clinical practice;
  • Foster national and international collaborations in both research, teaching and service provision.
