Managing disruption: Taking strategic foresight from buzzword to business
A discussion with Balthasar Staehelin, Special Envoy for Foresight and Techplomacy at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
The University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland (HES-SO) offers a Master of Science in Business Administration, which includes a major in “strategic foresight”.
In this context, Balthasar Staehelin, Special Envoy for Foresight and Techplomacy at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), will speak from his experience, illustrating how the ICRC translates foresight into tangible action today. This will be complemented by contributions from other futures thinking “practitioners” in the audience. There will be time for comments, questions and exchanges with participants.
With a focus on humanitarian action, contributors will draw on shared experience to demonstrate the relevance of a “strategic foresight” approach beyond “relief and development” silos. Particular focus will be placed on adjusting to digital disruption, and on the challenges for management given the changing nature of work.
The event is jointly organized
- By HEG-Genève (Sylvain Weber),
- Humanitarian Futures (Randolph Kent),
- and Incitare (Beris Gwynne, moderator).
The event is designed for MSc BA students in strategic foresight, but open to all HEG students and staff, representatives of government, business, and non-government organisations.
