Alexandros Kioupkiolis est professeur de théorie politique contemporaine à l'Université Aristote de Thessalonique, en Grèce. Ses recherches portent sur la démocratie radicale, les communs, les mouvements sociaux, la transformation démocratique et la philosophie de la liberté. Il est l'auteur de Freedom after the Critique of Foundations: Marx, Liberalism and Agonistic Autonomy (Palgrave-Macmillan, 2012), The Common and Counter-Hegemonic Politics (Edinburgh University Press, 2019) et Common Hegemony, Populism, and the New Municipalism: Democratic Alter-Politics and Transformative Strategies (Routledge, 2022).
