Leonid Slonimskiy

Leonid Slonimskiy, born in 1987 in Moscow, Russia, is an architect and architectural researcher. He studied Architecture at the Moscow Architectural Institute and the Columbia University GSAPP, New York. Slonimskiy has worked with OMA*AMO in New York and Herzog de Meuron in Basel for more than six years. Slonimskiy is the joint founder of architectural practice KOSMOS Architects. The office has won multiple international competitions including the Sports Centre in Gorky Park for Nike, the Pro Helvetia Prize for Performance Architecture, the Hans Christian Andersen award in Denmark and the Queensway Competition in New York, and was nominated for the Swiss Art Awards 2017. He has also designed and jointly curated an exhibition in the Swiss Architecture museum. Besides architecture, the office carries out several research and publication projects. Slonimskiy’s academic experience includes teaching Architectural Studies at the Bangkok Chulalongkorn University as well as the INDA Faculty of Architecture and Design where he is adjunct professor. He has also led numerous architecture workshops at the AA Visiting School, the Strelka Institute, the University of Antwerp, Hello Wood Hungary, Kotor APSS and many other places. Slonimskiy currently lives in Geneva and combines his work at KOSMOS Architects with teaching Design at HEAD – Genève.
