Giovanna Zapperi

Giovanna Zapperi is a full professor of contemporary art history at the University of Geneva. She is the author of L’artiste est une femme. La modernité de Marcel Duchamp (2012), Lo schermo del potere. Femminismo e regime della visibilità (with Alessandra Gribaldo, 2012), and Carla Lonzi. Un art de la vie (2018). She edited the book L’avenir du passé. Art contemporain et politiques de l’archive (2016) and, with Francesco Ventrella, Art and Feminism in Postwar Italy. The Legacy of Carla Lonzi (2021). In 2019-2020, with Nataša Petrešin-Bachelez, she curated the exhibition Defiant Muses. Delphine Seyrig and Feminist Video Collectives in France, 1970s-1980s at the Museo Reina Sofia in Madrid and at LaM, Lille Métropole (then Kunsthalle Vienna and Württembergischer Kunstverein in Stuttgart in 2022-2023).
