Frank Westermeyer

Frank Westermeyer, born 1971 in Essen (Germany), is artist and filmmaker. He lives and work in Geneva and Berlin. He studied video art and photographie at the University Wuppertal from 1992 to 1997 and from 1998-99 at the Ecole national supérieure des beaux-arts in Paris, with Christian Boltanski. Before starting to teach at HEAD – Geneva, Westermeyer was assistant professor at Bauhaus University Weimar and lecturer at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago. Since 1996 he collaborates with French artist Sylvie Boisseau. Their installations and art films have been shown in international exhibitions and festivals, like recently at transmediale Berlin and Kino der Kunst, Munic. Frank Westermeyer develops a praxis based art research, like the recently published “Playing at Being Human” (in English language), edited by Naima Paris and Berlin and available at HEAD Publishing as well.
