The Vocal Department provides a full course in all the fields of vocal work, from Lieder and oratorio to opera. It also includes a choral conducting class and has a chamber choir that works on demanding programmes, as well as a Grand Choir. It works closely with the Early Music Department on mediaeval, Renaissance and Baroque repertoires. It also regularly performs major opera projects in partnership with leading Swiss and international operatic institutions. Famous personalities from the operatic world are involved in teaching numerous seminars and master classes, thus encouraging openings to the professional world.
