The Bachelor of Arts course with main discipline in composition is provided by the Composition and Theory department. It is a comprehensive course covering the various fields associated with this discipline: composition, electroacoustic composition, instrumentation, computer-assisted design, musical notation, theory and practice of analytical and digital systems, knowledge of musical notation software, acoustics and audio engineering. The composition syllabus also includes classes in piano, keyboard harmony and score-reading. The Electroacoustic Music Centre (CME) offers students cutting-edge, computer-assisted composition technology, as well as international partnerships with such bodies as the Institut de recherche et coordination acoustique/musique (IRCAM).
