Orchestral instruments department
The Orchestral Instruments Department covers all the orchestral instrumental disciplines, as well as conducting. The training includes the solo repertoire as well as small and large ensemble activities. Specific preparation for orchestra professions is part of the Master of Arts course in musical performance. The department works closely with regional orchestras and professional ensembles, as well as partners in Switzerland and elsewhere.
Students in the Orchestral Instruments Department also receive initial training in early instruments. This creates possibilities of transfert to the Early Music Department, allowing interested students to pursue their studies in this Department.
The main disciplines are violin, viola, cello, double bass, harp, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, horn, trumpet, trombone, bass trombone, saxhorn, tuba, percussion and conducting.
