This publication follows in the steps of previous editions that has documented research carried out at HEAD – Genève since its inception, exactly ten years ago (see ISSUE No. 5, 2009 and ISSUE No. 9, 2011). It lists all the new research projects from 2012 until the end of 2015 as well as those completed during that time, and calls on two researchers, Jelena Martinovic and Nicolas Nova, who offer a reflection on the interaction between research and practice in art and design.

Over four years, research at HEAD has developed, true to the premise according to which research in art and design adopts and echoes the variety of forms in art and design today. New research methods have been tested, exciting partnerships have been implemented and innovative proposals for further developments have helped research projects to radiate in Switzerland as well as abroad. In this way, Mathieu Copeland’s art research project The Exhibition of a Film was shown at the Tate Modern in London and the MoMa in New York.
