Covid-19 Information

Following the decisions of the Federal Council, the cantonal authorities, the Board of Education and HES-SO Genève, and with the aim of avoiding the spread of Covid-19, HEAD suspended all on-Campus classes from Friday 13 March 2020.

Effective and original online classes have been implemented and the results of the various workshops are regularly presented online on HEAD’s website

The studios, and services such as HEAD’s library, infoLab and audio-visual warehouse are currently closed. Further information will be provided on 30 April regarding possibilities for use from 17 May 2020 (stage 2 in the deconfinement process).

EVENTS AND CULTURAL PROGRAMME

All the events, symposiums and conferences scheduled at HEAD are cancelled until further notice.

You can watch, replay or listen to the conferences and other events which have taken place within the school over the last few months, on HEAD’s website

The online review ISSUE, which introduces the substantial practical and theoretical research work that is carried out within the school, is also available, featuring rich content, interviews, conference reviews, articles, etc.

One of the platform’s objectives is to create a place to exchange ideas and to showcase interconnections between HEAD’s various fields of study to fuel transdisciplinary discussion and better understand our contemporary world and its near future.

SIX-MONTHLY ASSESSMENTS AND GRADUATION JURIES

As a reminder, the Board of Education’s decisions on 7 April 2020 aimed to maintain the term’s entire workload as well as all related assessments in order to ensure the quality of the diplomas and full recognition of related skills. Within this institutional framework, the calendar has been amended as follows:

- Apart from the graduation juries, all six-monthly assessments – BA 1, BA 2 and MA 1 – will take place until Friday 3 July

- The BA graduation juries (Interior Architecture, Fashion Design, Product/Jewellery & Accessory Design, Visual Communication and Fine Arts) will take place from 1 to 10 July inclusive.

- The MA in Design (Media Design, Space & Communication, Fashion & Accessory Design), the MA in Visual Arts (Work.master, CCC, Trans) and the BA in Cinema graduation juries will take place from 24 August to 4 September 2020 inclusive.

HEAD is convinced that graduation work remains a decisive step for students in their development as artists, filmmakers or designers, and an essential “calling card” for their professional integration. As such, HEAD reasserts its commitment i.e. substantial material and physical assistance and support in the development of full-scale graduation works which will enhance the value of the creations of all graduates, to match their ambitions.

The series of events which enables students to showcase their graduation works on the professional art and design stages (Graduation ceremony, awards, graduation exhibitions, Grand Tour, HEAD Fashion show, etc.) will be maintained despite the enormous difficulties relating to the current situation, as evidenced by the cancellation of a string of major public events (Festivals, etc.), both in Switzerland and beyond. Our teams are working hard to develop new formats to disseminate and enhance the works of HEAD’s students.
