Marie-Antoinette Chiarenza

Artist, based in Zürich. Born in 1957 in Tunis/T. Attended Massart/Boston and Pasadena city college/LA. After experimenting selforganised projects in Paris, she co-founded in 1983 RELAX with Daniel Hauser. They trade under the name RELAX (chiarenza & hauser & co), whereby the ”& co” stands for possible cooperations. Their works are on value issues, wealth, abundance and implicate questions about what is formatting us, how we can emancipate from such processes (which are dificult to avoid and even more difficult not to reproduce). Their statements such as ''thinking alone is criminal; I am a woman, why are you not?; you pay but you don't agree with the price'' are reflected in most of their projects. Chiarenza, member of the Swiss federal art commission (2008-2011); since 1993 engaged as teaching-artist in different schools, a.o. at F+F School of Art and Design Zürich; since

2008 at HEAD Geneva; 2013 Resident Faculty at Skowhegan School of Art.
