HES-SO Genève

Support for asylum-seeking people

As of the 2020-21 academic year, the the HES-SO Genève is officially collaborating with the Horizon Académique programme managed by the University of Geneva, supporting the academic and social integration of asylum-seeking people (those with N, F, B refugee or C refugee permits) who have had to interrupt a course of university study in their country and/or have already completed one or more courses of study.

By developing its collaboration with the Horizon Académique programme and introducing joint initiatives, three types of support are offered by the six schools of the HES-SO Genève, subject to participants’ eligibility to enrol in an HES bachelor’s degree:

  • Access to courses as an unregistered student
  • Access to a mentoring programme (managed by the University of Geneva)
  • Recognition of virtual ECTS credits acquired (depending on the area of study)

In this way, the programme, which ideally takes the form of resuming studies by enrolling in the relevant course, can be used as a bridge for studies at university level.
