lun, 12/10/2015 - 09:00 - ven, 16/10/2015 - 16:00

The 4th edition of the International Conference on Music and Emotion (ICME4) will take place from October 12-16, 2015 at the Biotech Campus in Geneva – Switzerland. It is organized by the University of Geneva (Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences and the Swiss Center for Affective Sciences) and the Geneva – HEM (Haute école de musique de Genève). This conference will be followed by the Music & Sciences Festival 2015 (15th to 17th October 2015). The focus of this conference is on the capacity of music to communicate and induce emotions in performers and listeners, and its widespread impact on human experience in everyday life. The program will provide a multidisciplinary perspective on the field, including state-of the art approaches, the latest theoretical and empirical evidence, and future directions. In addition, the conference will have as a special research focus on the mechanisms by which the performing of and listening to music affects human experience at different levels: peripheral physiological, cerebral and neuronal, behavioral, cognitive, aesthetic, and social. This conference follows previous Music & Emotion conferences held in Durham, UK (2009), Perth, Australia (2011), and Jyväskylä, Finland (2013). Keynote and invited speakers will present new theoretical and empirical research in various domains of music and emotion (see the program at http://www.unige.ch/icme4/). Peer-reviewed contributions will include talks, symposia, workshops, demonstrations, and poster sessions. Submissions are welcome from scholars and students in all disciplines working on topics relating to music and emotion, including psychology, neuroscience and neurophysiology, philosophy, sociology, musicology, music theory, affective computing, history, anthropology, and the humanities.
